Masirah Island, Oman
Performing API-653 inspections of six large buried vertical storage tanks, API-570 inspections of piping, and compliance repairs to the entire fuel system. Since the tanks were buried, CAPE developed a protocol to use both MFE and C-Scan technology to e stablish nearly 100% inspection of the bottom, shell, and roof to locate external corrosion, and an API-570 protocol to use both long-range guided wave testing and hydrostatic pressure testing to locate corroded areas, leaks, and coating failures of the piping. This was a 9-month turnaround, which required exceptional project management dealing with the logistics, foreign liaisons, and subcontractors; extended deployment of personnel; and exporting/importing of equipment.
